"Forging" of forged steel is the process of making a material that changes shape and inner structure without melting it. In the process of punching and forging, the grain structure inside the metal is deformed, meanwhile, the grain deformation process spreads over the whole metal part, and the forged part can be shape into the designed shape. The difference between forged steel and cast steel is mainly reflected in the different processing technology (forging and casting) of the steel, forging is a plastic deformation process, while casting is liquid molding.

The design of wrought steel and the grinding tools for its production require initial cost. However, the cost of each part is low, so the cost of large volume steel parts can be reduced.

The table below shows general forging material of forged steel valves, as well as the working condition of the material.
